B. 4 17/28
Strategy A.
Find the LCD or Least Common Denominator of the fraction then subtract the fraction and whole number since the fraction can be subtract without regrouping.
6 6/7 - 2 1/4
LCD:28 so rename the fraction as 6 24/28 - 2 7/28 then the answer is 17/28 then subtract the whole number 6 - 2 is equal to 4, since the 17/28 has no GCF it can't be simplify.
Strategy B.
change the mixed numbers into improper fraction so multiply the whole number to denominator then the product add to numerator and copy the original denominator of the mixed numbers.Like in Strategy A. you need to find the LCD (Least Common Denominator) then rename the fraction as 192/28 - 63/28 is 129/28 then change it into mixed form so the final answer is 4 17/28.
