1.External male reproductive organs:
Penis is the organ that is present outside for sexual intercourse. The root part of the penis is attached to the wall of the abdomen. The body or shaft part is a tube-like structure composed of three chambers that contains a space filled with blood when the male is sexually aroused. The penis is filled with blood to make them erect and rigid and it is elastic in nature helps to change their size. The glans is the end of the penis that covers with a loose skin layer called foreskin that helps to transport semen (sperm) and urine out.
Scrotum is the pouch-like structure that presents near the penis that holds testicles commonly known as testes. The scrotum protects the testes that also maintains the body temperature.
Testicles (testes) helps for making sexual hormones like testosterone (primary sex hormone) and it contains a coiled mass of tube-like structure called tubules that regulates the production of sperm cells by the process of spermatogenesis.
Epididymis is a tube located on the backside of testicles that stores and carries the sperm cells and also help for the maturation of sperm cells (fertilization takes place).
2.Internal male reproductive organs:
Vas deferens is a muscle (long) like structure that helps to transports the mature sperm to the urethra for the preparation of ejaculations.
Ejaculatory ducts form with the help of vas deference and seminal vesicles to empty the urethra.
Urethra is a tube-like structure that helps to pass urine and helps to ejaculate the semen (sperm cells). When a male undergoes sex, the urethra blocks the way of urine flow and allows semen to eject.
Seminal vesicles are the sac-like structure that gets attached to the vas deference and makes the sugar-rich fluid that provides energy to the sperm cells mobility.
Prostate gland is located at the urinary bladder in front of the rectum that contributes additional fluid to ejaculate and nourish the sperm cells.
Bulbourethral glands located at the side of the urethra that produces slippery, clear fluid that empties the urethra and neutralizes the acidity produced during the residual drop of urine from the urethra.
Answer:
The main function of the male reproductive system is producing sperm, secreting the male sex hormones and delivering sperm to the female egg.
