STEPS OF LINEAR EQUATION
To solve some linear equations, you'll need to take more than one step. Learn how to solve these two step equations and practice some problems in this session to become a master equation solver.
Solving a Linear Equation in Two Steps
It's important to remember that the purpose of solving any equation is to get the variable, or unknown, on one side of the equation by itself. Sometimes an equation can be solved in a single step:
12 = y + 4
To solve, take 4 off each side to get the variable (y) on its own.
12 - 4 = y + 4 - 4
8 = y
It only required one step in that scenario. However, this does not always work. Consider the following equation:
9 = 3x-12
To answer this problem, you must first move the variables.The Best Way to Solve Two-Step Equations;
Step 1: Remove all brackets and parentheses from the equation.
Step 2: To isolate the variable, add or remove.
Step 3: To find the value of the variable, multiply or divide it.
