This is due to the increase in temperature, as we go deeper into the core, the temperature will also increase. The higher the temperature of the molten rock, the more it will become less dense thus the movement of the molten rocks near the mantle will go up while the rocks near the crust will go down creating convection in the mantle and this will continue as a cycle.
In the divergence of the plate, two ends moves in the opposite direction creating convection current that moves in the opposite direction (See diagram A in the selection).
