The picture on the Left: Ati-Ati-han Dance
Known to be a religious dance to the honor of "Holy Child Jesus or Sto.Nino"
1. Place Originated- the term "Ati" means to imitate which is the local name
used for the community of Aeta from the Island of Panay.
2. Familiar- This religious dance is very famous around the country,
aside from the province it originated, there are also some
provinces that use the dance festival to honor their religious patron.
The picture on the Right: Ibalong Dance Festival
Known to be a non-religious festival, instead of a festive re-enactment
about an epic story of Ibalong in the province.
1. Place Originated-People from Albay, Bicol is on parade while wearing a mask and costume
to showcase the Epic story of their three legendary heroes are: Handyong, Ban-tong, and Bal-tog.
2. Familiar- The festivities have only been known in their place of origin and never seen in other parts of the country.
Differences in Nature- Ati- Ati-han is for religious and Ibalong
is for re-enactment purposes.
Though they differ from the reason of celebrations and rhythm of the beat,
they are both colorful, full of meaning, and brings out the goodwill of
the celebrations.
