BJJ is purely a ground fighting art that doesn't get into weapon defense. A street fighter is an uneducated brute that only has stupid experience telling him what not to do that guides him on what to do. Anyone claiming to be a street fighter is not a "fighter", just a brawler.
If they fight in MMA rules, obviously the better trained person will win the match. If it's in a "street fight", then if it still remains one on one, hand to hand, then the BJJ practitioner has a great deal of favor to win. It would only take a buddy of the street fighter, or the pulling of a knife or gun, to completely turn the tables. BJJ isn't aimed at life or death self defense, just primarily the sport of grappling. BJJ can be used in serious situations, but outside of the sport, there are holes and gaps that aren't filled.
Unless the BJJ could get the street fighter to the ground, the street fighter would win. That's why it's better to know a "standing" martial art as well, so you would be prepared for both situations.
Being trained generally gives one an edge over someone without training. In grappling in particular, where many of the maneuvers are counter-intuitive and not instinctive, even a little bit of training seems, in my experience, to give someone a significant edge.
Of course, there are other factors that go into fighting as well that may affect the outcome: size, strength, speed, conditioning, surprise, "chin" or ability to take a punch, desire to engage, ability to improvise, previous experience, and so on. BJJ works better against a timid, unhealthy person who you outweigh by 20lbs than an aggressive, well-conditioned person who outweighs YOU by 70lbs; of course, this is true of any martial art. They work best on things that don't fight back.
Since no one else will say it I will. You vs a street fighter? My money is on the street fighter. You have no idea how to fight. You even admitted it. In martial arts, "A few Months" is exactly like saying "I don't know jack."
And the fact that you're comparing styles versus styles, shows you know absolutely nothing.
So since you're not a very skilled martial artist, and street fighters typically have the practical experience behind them... sorry, but my money is on them.
Street Fighter blows your head off with a hadouken 10/10 imo
It depends on the situation. I don't prefer learning a ground martial art first, but if its a one on one battle you might have a chance, but in lots of cases the street fighter probably will win.
depends who has the will to win.........I practice Okinawan karate and I am very good at it but....I know that I can loose to anyone.... the fight is unpredictable and someone might get a lucky shot. Knowing an art does not mean that you will come out the victor.
I as a practitioner I have to be prepared for that...the more I practice the ¨lucky er¨ I become.
????you will never know until you see the outcome¿¿¿¿
The only way I'd pick the BJJ guy is if he was high level. Mid range or entry level BJJ guys would lose 9/10, imo.
The better fighter would win.
It's not the style, it's the practitioner.
Street fighting is not a style though.
an untrained streetfighter yes but there r guys whove been training their whole lives who like street fighting
