Colloids
1. whipped cream
2.mayonnaise
3.milk
4.butter
5.gelatin
Uses of colloids
1. it consists of a gas in a liquid, so it is a foam.Soal is colloidal suspension with solid particles in liquid. Its considered a suspension if the particles are larger than 1000 nanometers.
2. Mayonnaise is an emulsion colloid made from polar vinegar and nonpolar oil emulsified by egg yolk that prevents their separation. Egg interacts with both the polar and nonpolar ends to stabilize the mixture.
3. Milk appears to be a homogeneous mixture, it is a colloid because it has small globules of fat and protein that do not settle out after standing due to the (usually negatively) charged particles. These particles repel each other so they do not collect into larger particles that would settle out.
4. Butter is a colliadial solution because it contains gel like substance in it . When we compress it the gel comes out which is a collide , it contains suspension in it . So butter is considered as colliadial solution.
5. Gelatin, when dissolved in water, is a colloid because the protein molecules that compose it, mostly derived from collagen, are much larger than usual dissolved molecules, but they remain evenly dispersed throughout the water. A gel is another type of colloid, where a liquid is dispersed through a solid.
