Answer:
1. Estuaries- Estuaries and their surrounding wetlands are bodies of water usually found where rivers meet the sea. Estuaries are home to unique plant and animal communities that have adapted to brackish water(a mixture of fresh water draining from the land and salty seawater).
2. Bodies of water form layers based on differences in density, usually affected most by temperature and salinity. As fresh water from rivers enters an estuary it mixes with saltwater from the sea. Water will become more dense as its salinity increases.
3. Tides affect marine ecosystems by influencing the kinds of plants and animals that thrive in what is known as the intertidal zone (the area between high and low tide).
4. There are many biotic factors that are found in estuaries. These include plants and animals such as shrimp, fish, and oysters. Life in estuaries are threatened by human activity. This is because these marine animals are being killed for food and water, from estuaries in specific, is being drained for drinking water.
Explanation:
1. Estuaries are arms of the sea, partly enclosed by land and with freshwater river input sufficient to provide a significant fresh - to salt water gradient.
2. Estuaries form unique marine biome that occurs where a source of fresh water, such as river, meets the ocean. Therefore, both fresh water and salt water are found in the same vicinity. Mixing results in a diluted (brackish) saltwater.
3. The intertidal zone is an ecosystem found on marine shorelines, where a multitude of organisms living on the shore survive changes between high and low tides.
4. These include plants and animals such as shrimp fish, and oysters.
Hope it helps
