Can a pedicure induce labor?
Verified answer
A foot rub done by a professional/acupuncturist who knows where the right pressure points are could possibly start labor. I wouldn't worry about the pedicure, it isn't going to cause labor to start.

I did not hear that - and I thought I've heard every old wife's tale in the book! Anyway, from my personal experience, I used to get pedicures every 2 weeks (especially in my late pregnancy, since I did not want to go into delivery with ugly toes and everybody will be able to see them). Anyway, my last pedicure was at 39 weeks and 2 days, and I had to have a c-section and never went into true labor (I guess the baby was too comfortable in there). Good Luck!
My sis-in-law does manicures and pedicures professionally as well and she told me that supposedly there are pressure points on your feet that if pressed/massaged the right way, can cause contractions. I tried it at the end of my pregnancy (had my sis-in-law do it), along with everything else to induce labor naturally (except for that whole castor oil thing...ugh no thanks LOL).
Personally, I don't think any of those home remedies really work but that's because they didn't work for me LOL...I have known a couple of women who have been lucky with certain things inducing contractions enough to actually start labor on their own rather than being induced by the doctor.
As someone above said hitting the right pressure points in the ankle area can induce labor. Some people can do this on purpose if you are ready for that, however if you are getting a pedicure and are not quite ready to pop, just let your pedecurist know and ask that they not massage your ankle area. This way you are in the clear but you can still get a good foot and calf rub.
i have never heard of that. I have heard of things like walking, or an orgasm, or something a little more severe than a pedicure. But hey I would jump at any chance for a pedi!
Take the Pedicure and run with it...
It will not only relax you but also the little one inside...
When mama is happy and relaxed, so is baby :)
Where ever you heard this or read this... there are no statistics on this.. and it's not so..
Enjoy the kind gesture of your neighbor :)
there are certain pressure points on your feet that are said to help induce labour. i doubt a pedicure will affect these points. :)
That's one of the oddest things I've heard! I'm going to have to say that is false. The only things that induce labor must be done by a doctor..
