Priests may not reveal what they have learned during confession to anyone, even under the threat of their own death or that of others.

Under the seal of confession, a priest is not allowed to tell the confession of any person. The secrecy and confidentiality must observed. If you will observe in a confessionary box, that's the reason why their is a screen that convers the face of the confessor and the one confessing to protect the identity. This is under the Canon Law, which the priest follows or serve as the rule of their life. The priest can only talk about the confessed sin if the one who confess needs a follow up or asked the guidance of the priest regarding this matter. Sometimes a priest before doing this asked for an opinion from a more experienced confessor to properly addressed a certain issue without revealing the identity of the person involved. If a priest was proven to violate the seal of confession, he will automatically be excommunicated.
