I can jump car, but the car dies when the cables are removed. Ford Taurus - 2003. Any ideas?
Update:so, i should mention that yesterday:
Day #1: I jumped my buddies car.
Day #2: I left my lights on. Car Jumped fine, but when took keys out of ignition (to remove The Club), the car would not re-start. So I re-jumped it, removed the cables, and the car stayed on & I drove home.
Day #3: Car jumps, but dies after cables are removed.
Perhaps, I should rev the engine a bit?

Broken alternator drive belt?
Open circuit battery so zero volts at terminals (internal connection broken)?
Open circuit battery connectors (very bad corrosion on terminals)?
The battery of the 2003 Ford Taurus is to be replace with the new one, 2 or more cell are broken and can't save current and chemical reaction to save and make power to use. The cell can be broke by age, over charge, or miss maintenance. While replace the battery, also check the work of the alternator to make sure the charging system is fine. The car dies because there no power left to turn on the electrical equipment of the Ford Taurus, no power to give because no power has been save.
Your alternator isn't working, either the belt is slipping excessively (or is gone), or the alternator itself is bad.
The alternator charges the battery, and also provides electricity to the ignition system when the car is running. If you had just run the battery dead, the car would run after being jumped, but you are getting no juice at all from the alternator.
I had the same problem but I got my alternator checked at auto parts store . car starts up fine but dies when I disconnect jumper cables. so I have a dead cell battery?
When a car's engine is running, you can disconnect the car battery and it will stay running. If it doesn't, the alternator isn't working. So alternator AND battery
my guess is Alternator or batter. If the battery is dead you could still jump your car cause the batteries getting power from another battery......and your car runs off the other car but not once you disconnected the cables. so battery or alternator
Bad battery
dead bat. also bad alternator theres no power being suplied to ur vehicle to keep it running. so find a good bat. hook it up to u r car and get it running disconect the bat. and it might die. if it does u need a new alternator. most likely thats ur problem new bat. and new alternator..
alternator period
