WATER
- Chemically speaking, water is an inorganic compound, transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, which is the main constituent of Earth's hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms. Water is a substance that is composed of the chemical elements hydrogen and oxygen and can exist in gaseous, liquid, and solid states depending on the conditions of its surroundings. It is vital for all known forms of life, even though it provides no calories or organic nutrients. Therefore, water (H₂O) is a basic necessity for survival.
Question: Can you survive without water?
The answer is NO!
- Technically speaking, no one can survive without taking water (or any p o t a b l e liquid) for a very long period of time. Water is vital for all living things, including humans. When you drink water, it travels throughout your body carrying nutrients, oxygen, and flushes body wastes out from your c e l l s and o r g a n s. Drinking water keeps your body cool as part of your body temperature regulating system. Water provides cushion in to your j o i n t s, and protects your tissues and organs from s h o c k and d a m a g e. Take note that an average human can only survive without water for about three days. After three to five days of not drinking water, your c e l l s and body organs will begin to shut down, especially the brain, which could have l e t h a l c o n s e q u e n c e s including fainting, s t r o k e s and in e x t r e m e cases, even d e a t h.
