Hi guys,
2 days ago I bought a car from a private seller, I didnt get it inspected myself cause I figured a roadworthy certificate would be enough (thought they actually meant something). So Theyve removed the back tint and changed some rear brake pads and said yea thats roadworthy.
Day I get it I'm braking and the cars shaking, take it to my uncle and he says it needs new brushes (or something, not sure but its to do with the brakes). And also noticed the front left shock absorber and power steering are leaking. Who knows what else is wrong with the car. Is there any way I can get the mechanic or original owner to pay for this since they obviously got a dodgy rwc? Or am I screwed?

Depends on what your local laws are and if you wish to pursue it in a small claims court.
I would have taken it to an independent dealer or someone you trust to look at it before purchase but anyway, its done now.
The brakes my be cause vibration due to the discs not being machined before the new pads went in or could have work bearings (not likely to cause bad vibrations but worse)
Get it checked out and fixed properly would be my advice!
It certainly sounds like you ignored a good few warning signs before you bought the car. Two cars well known for unreliability from a man who only gives a mobile number. Secondly as you've now sold the car I'm not sure it would technically be classed as your problem and you may struggle to get any redress. The MOT certainly sounds dodgy and I would report that as it would need the ABS to be working to pass and that sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. As most have said, trading standards in your area are best bet. But it sounds like a lesson learned.
In Ontario at least, the certificate more or less states that the vehicle was in a compliant standard at the time of testing.
Your sales slip probably says 'sold as is' somewhere on it.
