A volcano and a mountain are essentially the same thing except a volcano is a mountain that can erupt with lava or magma at times.
A mountain is a landform that stretches above the surface of the Earth that can be steep like a peak or not as steep. Volcanoes are similar to mountains; however, the pressure inside a magma chamber creates an orifice through which lava and hot gases erupt into the atmosphere.
If magma seeps into a mountain it could explode making it a volcano.
Though a volcano is a type of mountain, it has a v-crater, magma, and lava. A mountain does not have any of these components. Mountain areas are peaceful and safe to visit and stay. On the other hand, volcanoes are aggressive and may erupt when least expected.
