The book of Ruth takes place during the time of the judges in Israel. It is about a woman named Ruth who is a Moabite and marries an Israelite named Mahlon. Tragically, Mahlon and his brother Chilion die, leaving their wives, Ruth and Orpah, widowed.

Naomi, Ruth's mother-in-law, decides to return to her homeland of Bethlehem, and encourages her daughters-in-law to return to their families in Moab. Orpah decides to go back to Moab, but Ruth chooses to stay with Naomi and join her journey to Bethlehem.
Climax:
In Bethlehem, Ruth goes to work gathering grain in a field belonging to Boaz, a wealthy relative of Naomi. Boaz is impressed by Ruth's kindness and work ethic and shows her special favor by instructing his workers to leave extra grain for her to collect.
Falling Action:
Naomi realizes that Boaz is a potential husband for Ruth and encourages her to go to him one night and ask him to take her as his wife. Boaz is delighted and promises to do everything in his power to make Ruth his wife.
Resolution:
