Hey there guys, I'm building a gaming set up in a few months and I'm considering purchasing an HDMI switch.
The switch will have my Xbox, HD TV Box, and my computers Graphics Card output.
Will the HDMI switch cause lag when gaming on my PC and my Xbox?

Lag is caused from the HDCP protocol or digital handshake created by the RIAA to stop anyone from coping digital material. So when we connect are blu ray players or for that matter any digital source using HDMI it must sync with the component or TV it is connected to. Sometimes it does not properly sync and you get the lag of the audio and video. Supposedly this was fixed somewhat with the 1.4 version HDMI cables, but of course the equipment must also be 1.4 compliant to get the benefits.
The other fix is to simply turn the components on in the right sequence TV first and then receiver or source components. Of simply turn it on and then off, this often fixes it as well.

NO. Lag between video and audio is due to a slower response time on a bargain price tv. I would not recommend any of those bargain price tv. They are not very good in quality or reliability. If you read yahoo questions all the time you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from LCD or LED tv and 95% of those are the bargain price tv. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.
