well, im a Seventh-day Adventist, and i DO NOT eat meat.
the Seventh-day Adventist religion teaches that a vegetarian diet is a healthier way to go, and vegan is even better- but it does not force you to be vegetarian. like everything else in life- you must choose.
and, if you meet a Seventh-day Adventist that is not a vegetarian, don't think all Seventh-day Adventists are like that. and no, we don't think those that do eat meat are "wrong" or are "not going to heaven" . no, that's a whole different matter. it's just about how you treat your body- the temple of the Holy Spirit.
God works through you to the world, and so you should have a healthy body and life style so you can better serve God!
im a Seventh-day Adventist, and im a vegetarian.
and sometimes i get along much better than some of my meat eating friends. i don't get sick as much, and when i do, it's not as severe, and doesn't last as long. i also try to have a healthy life style and excersize. and besides not eating meat, i try not to eat too much of other unhealthy foods- like junk food, sweets, oily things, fatty things... you get the picture!!
well, i hope this has helped you!!
good luck, and God bless you!!
Seventh Day Adventist Eat Meat
I was raised a 7th Day Adventist (SDA). I never came across the "Can't shave legs" thing but the other things I recognize; no dancing, no "rock" music, no meat and so on. I am no longer a SDA but not for any faults of theirs. I believe it is a sound religion. They simply like to incorporate many "rituals" into their belief. Every religion has rituals; Pentecostal speak in tongues, Catholics pray to Mary and give confession, Baptist don't go to movies and so on. But remember, this is all ritual. What makes a religion legitimate is their belief in Jesus as the Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and that His Father is coming for us one day in the future. The rest is simply "ritual." I try to stay away form things that are not closely related to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." That is all we need do. The reasons some religions incorporate these other things is that they have seen something in the Bible, some passage some where, that sort of commands we do, or not do, those things. Also, they want to add a few guidelines that may help keep the members of their flock from getting into a bad situation. For instance, "Rock" music excites people sexually or it often includes profanity. Well,m these religions don't want their members to be exposed to any more of that kind of stuff than is necessary, so - no rock music, no movies, no dancing and so on. It's a simple concept with not a great deal of Biblical support, but it is practiced with good intentions.
The ones I know don't. The official position of the church is that a vegetarian diet glorifies God and is healthier.

I am a vegetarian, but not a Seventh Day Adventist.
Some do and some don't. They are taught that it's healthier to abstain from eating meat, but that it's not a sin to eat it. Pork and other "unclean" meats are not allowed to be eaten by SDA's. It is considered a sin to eat any unclean meats mentioned in the Old Testament.
Apparently not!
But the 8th Day Adventists, which I am about to start (Why not! Eight days are as good as seven) will be allowed to eat ANYTHING!
Some do, many choose not to though, because the prophet they agree with taught against it as a health issue.
The funny thing is, that there are receipts found at the prophets Australian residence showing she bought scallops regularly. Ooops.
Some do, some don't.
The church's "official" position is that, all things being equal, a vegetarian diet is better, it's just not dogma. Which fits in with their whole "health message."
What IS dogma however, is the clean/unclean thing.
Some do, some don't. Being a vegan is healthier and is biblical. God made the first parents vegetarians and condones it throughout the Bible. God bless.
At one time most SDA's were vegetarians. This is changing however, especially among the more liberal (ironic isn't it?) of SDA's.
