۞ Formation Of Colloids
Two methods of preparing colloids are by dispersion and by condensation.
Dispersion methods involve breaking big particles to particles of colloidal size. This may be done mechanically using a colloid mill. The fine particles are then stirred in thr dispersion medium, usually water. The homogenizer used in the preparation of cheese and butter is an example of a colloid mill. Emulsions are prepared by beating or shaking one liquid into another. Then a third substance is added to make the emulsion stable.Another method employs a chemical reagent gor bteaking big particles. The reagent is called peptizing agent. The process is called peptization Clag is peptized by NaOH to form colloidal clay.
☘︎ Answers to the given questions: (Some of my answers include explanations for you to understand it well!!)
1. Smaller then the particles of a suspension but bigger than the particles of a solution.
2. Particles Settle
3. A process wherein molecules of one substance are held on the surface of another substance.
4. They absorb and carry along poisonous substances
5. Colloidal Particles Carry a uniform charge
6. Colloidal particles have large surface area
7. Particles Have large surface area
