RELATIONSHIP OF RELIGION, BELIEFS, AND MUSIC OF INDIA TO CATHOLICS
Answer:
Both Indian and Western musical histories split Indian musical activities, especially devotional music, into North and South. There are musical and religious variances in this divide. Hinduism is the dominant religion in the South when it comes to identifying spiritual meaning and musical arrangement.
Music is deeply ingrained in the religion and beliefs of Indians. Hindu music is music inspired by or made for Hinduism. In Hindu tradition, musical sound is related to the holy Absolute known as Brahman through the ideas of Śabda-Brahman and, in particular, Nāda-Brahman ("Sacred sound as God"), which consists of Nāda-Śakti (sound energy) and Brahman (divine Absolute).
As a Catholic, I believe that "the one who sings prays twice," as St. Augustine put it. In terms of how they interpret music, Catholics and Hindus are nearly identical. Catholics, like Hindus, believe that music should be of excellent quality. The liturgical assembly should be encouraged to participate through song and music. They should reflect the People of God's cultural diversity as well as the celebration's hallowed and somber nature.
