Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money. The World Bank Organization describes poverty in this way:
Poverty is lack of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a doctor.
The poor shouldn't be blamed for their poverty.

There are 2.2 billion children in the world, and 1 billion of them live in poverty. A third of all poor in developing countries are children aged zero to 12. Global poverty has decreased by half over the last decade; however, 71 percent of the population still live in low-income or poor ($10 a day) conditions.
