Answer:
1.) A: number of banners(3/8m each) she can make out of 3/4 m of cloth
G: 3/8,3/4
O: division
N: N = [tex]\frac{3}{4}[/tex]÷[tex]\frac{3}{8}[/tex]
N = [tex]\frac{3}{4}[/tex]÷[tex]\frac{3}{8}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{24}{12}[/tex] or 2
A: She can make 2 banners.
note:
to get the numerator(24) of the answer 24/12, we multiplied the numerator of the first fraction 3/4 which is 3 by the denominator of the second fraction 3/8 which is 8. so 3 x 8 = 24.
to get the denominator of (12) of the answer 24/12, we multiplied the denominator of the first fraction 3/4 which is 4 by the numerator of the second fraction 3/8 which is 3. so 4 x 3 = 12.
so the answer is 24/12 which when solved or divided becomes the whole number 2.
2. A: number of fence post(1/4 each) he can make out of 8 logs
G: 8, 1/4
O: division
N: N = 8 ÷ 1/4
N = [tex]\frac{8}{1}[/tex] ÷ [tex]\frac{1}{4}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{32}{1}[/tex] or 32
A: He can make 32 fence posts.
note:
whole numbers like 8 have 1 as the denominator. this is why 8/1 is used in the equation.
to get the numerator(32) of the answer 32/1, we multiplied the numerator of the first fraction 8/1 which is 8 by the denominator of the second fraction 1/4 which is 4. so 8 x 4 = 32.
to get the denominator of (1) of the answer32/1, we multiplied the denominator of the first fraction 8/1 which is 1 by the numerator of the second fraction 1/4 which is also 1. so 1 x 1 = 1.
so the answer is 32/1 which when solved or divided becomes the whole number 32.
hope this helps.have a great day
