Jesus Christ's invitation to build his or his Father's house is not to be taken literally. The house that he is referring to is the congregation of God. This also does not refer to physical churches but instead refers to the people who worship God and does what he expects of them.
So how do we build the congregation and make it strong? We do this by following Jesus' example. Jesus was sent to Earth to live as a man and his God-given mission was to help save mankind by spreading the word of God so that people may live according to God's law and to worship Him wholeheartedly.
Jesus says that the congregation or the "house" is failing or weakened because people refuse to believe that he is not God. They worship idols, material wealth, worldly leaders, all while denying devotion to Jesus' father. So who is the Heavenly Father that Jesus calls unto and follow? His name is Jehovah.
During the time that Jesus was on Earth, many Jews and other people have refused to use God's name because they think that using His name is a sin or because the religious leaders did not teach them the right way. Jesus wants us to call unto his Father, Jehovah, so that we may become his followers and so that he may protect us.
