I’m no expert but I do sell now in a local gallery. Several things come to mind. It depends on how big your local area is but even in smaller towns there are ways?
I have had my work up in coffee shops many times. You talk to the owner and see if they can hang it for a month or so. There may be a few months waiting list even it they will show it. There are sometimes co-op galleries or flea markets or Saturday markets where you can show. I have shown in many art fairs with friends.
Jr. College classes are good for helping you promote your work if you take a class. They have galleries that show it
I thin one of the best ways to promote traditional arts is to create a market for them in areas such as North America and Western Europe. You might contact major companies in those countries that would be interested in distributing these goods whether textiles, jewelry, ceramics, art, etc. as part of their product line.

One of the best organizations to contact might be the Peace Corps. I heard of a Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia, who was doing something very similar to what your promoting regarding exporting traditional Armenian art productions.
