RIZAL'S ACADEMIC LIFE
José Rizal (1861-1896) has a mission for education that would uplift the country to the highest development when it comes to achieving the educational system. As we all know, education is the foundation of society and mandatory for any social progress. Rizal claimed that only through education can a country be saved from any discrimination.
Rizal's influence in education is considered the right path. It was a saving pot during the time in the colonial Philippines. He believed that education can free us from political and religious control. He allegedly stated that reforms cannot be achieved if there is no relevant education, perhaps a liberal one that is available to Filipinos.
He is one of the most admired figures in the Philippines' history. Because he was the most intellectual and political activist best known for his political writings that inspired the Philippine revolution during the Spanish era. His writings influence young generations. To gain an inspiring source of patriotism through the study of his life, works, and writings.
He earned excellent remarks in the subjects such as Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, and even Natural History. He reads novels, wrote his prize-winning poetry, and works well in drawing, painting, and clay modeling, which remained lifelong interests for him.
His academic performance at UST is not as excellent as when he studied in Ateneo. In short, he was not happy studying at UST because of the attitude that Dominican professors had toward him, and racial discrimination among Filipino students, and he was disgusted with the methods of teaching that UST offered. Also, while studying abroad, Rizal earned a Licentiate in Medicine at the Universidad Central de Madrid, where he also took 2 courses which are Philosophy and Literature.
