TAKING CARE OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES
It is essential that children learn to care for and utilize their school supplies. If the children do not understand the economic significance of their school materials and their value to us, they will have little interest in caring for them and may give them away, lend them, or destroy them. It is important that the children learn to care for and make good use of them. It is important that when you go out and buy the supplies, the children accompany you, so that they know the price of the list. Once you have purchased all the supplies, when you arrive home you will deliver them, review the list with them and give them a brief explanation about the importance of these materials, and if they lose them, it cannot be replaced.
It is critical that the child understands what things he/she needs to bring to class for each subject; it is inconvenient to bring supplies that will not be used; therefore, we must be aware of this and guide them to bring only what is required. The rules and geometric games should be age-appropriate, and they should be kept in a hardback case to keep them from splitting, with their name labeled on it. The child’s name must be prominently displayed on the books.
They will be able to differentiate them immediately and avoid any confusion or thefts as a result of this. Backpacks must be large enough to accommodate all of child’s belongings. Food and drink should be kept separate from school supplies in a separate compartment. At the end of each week, emptying the child’s backpack and check for missing items or the appearance of one that does not belong to him/her. It is very usual for children to become confused and grab or leave the implements of their classmates without recognizing it.
