Answer:
DESCRIBE THE LINES:
LATITUDE
— Latitude lines are geographical coordinates that are used to specify the north and south sides of the Earth. Lines of latitude, also called parallels, run from east to west in circles parallel to the equator. They run perpendicular to the lines of longitude, which run from the north to the south.
LONGITUDE
— On a map (diagram), lines of longitude are the vertical lines running from the North Pole to the South Pole and are perpendicular to lines of latitude. Every line of longitude also crosses the equator. Because longitude lines are not parallel, they are known as meridians.
DIRECTION OF LINES
LATITUDE
— Lines of latitude (parallels) run east-west around the globe and are used to measure distances NORTH and SOUTH of the equator. Since the equator is 0°, the latitude of the north pole, 1/4 of the way around the globe going in a northerly direction, would be 90° N. This is the highest latitude possible.
LONGITUDE
— Longitude is the distance east or west of the Prime Meridian and is expressed as a number between 0 and 180 degrees east or west. Elevation is the height above sea level. Direction is expressed as north, south, east, or west, or some gradation between them.
MAXIMUM DEGREES OF LINES
LATITUDE
— The maximum number of degrees of latitude that can be present on the earth's surface is 90o. The North Pole has a latitude of 90o N; the South Pole is 90o S. Additionally, parallels of latitude are commonly labeled on world maps or globes normally in 15 or 30o intervals.
LONGITUDE
— Lines of longitude (meridians) running north-south around the globe measure distances EAST and WEST of the Prime Meridian. Directly on the opposite side of the earth from the prime meridian is located the 180° meridian. This is the highest longitude possible.
OTHERS
LATITUDE
— Parallels (other names for latitude)
Latitude is the measurement of distance north or south of the Equator. It is measured with 180 imaginary lines that form circles around the Earth east-west, parallel to the Equator. These lines are known as parallels
LONGITUDE
— meridians (other name for longitude)
Longitude is measured by imaginary lines that run around the Earth vertically (up and down) and meet at the North and South Poles. These lines are known as meridians.
