Answer:
1. Woodwind- are a family of musical instruments within the more general category of wind instruments. Common examples include flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, and bassoon. There are two main types of woodwind instruments: flutes and reed instruments (otherwise called reed pipes). The main distinction between these instruments and other wind instruments is the way in which they produce sound.[1] All woodwinds produce sound by splitting the air blown into them on a sharp edge, such as a reed or a fipple. Despite the name, a woodwind may be made of any material, not just wood. Common examples include brass, silver, cane, as well as other metals such as gold and platinum. The saxophone, for example, though made of brass, is considered a woodwind because it requires a reed to produce sound. Occasionally, woodwinds are made out of earthen materials, especially ocarinas.
2. Brass- Brass instruments are - surprisingly enough - usually made of brass.
They are "aerophones" so produce sound as the air blown through them vibrates in the tubes.
They use a series of valves (or a slide) to produce the required pitch, passing the air through a longer or shorter distance of tubes.
The longer the distance, the lower the note.
Some Brass instruments include:
Trumpet
Trombone
Tuba
French Horn
Cornet
Tenor Horn
Euphonium
3. String- Stringed instruments are "chordophones" which means they make sound by vibration of their strings.
This family includes:
Violin
Viola
Cello
Double Bass
Harp
Guitar (electric and acoustic)
All except guitars are found in symphony orchestras
