Answer:
Yes, and under certain circumstances it might even be desirable.
Our electrician who is in high demand, and is highly respected by the code officials recommended we put our refrigerator AND upright freezer, both of which are in the kitchen, on the same circuit.
Why?” I asked. He said, “Because you use your refrigerator all the time, but not so much your freezer. Hence if the freezer were on a different circuit and were to trip, you may not know it until your freezer food had spoiled.”
It’s a 20 amp circuit is that is dedicated to this one outlet only; and these 2 appliances take up both outlet jacks.
Six years running; never a problem. One might think this would be because the chance of them starting at the same time would be rare on a non-occurence. But they both come back on after a power outage, and, again, never a problem.
If it were to wear out the circuit breaker once every 6+ years, I could live with that, knowing I had the protection of the freezer the electrician recommended.
We also had to run both of them for 7 days off of a 20 amp generator circuit with 10 gauge cord, following Hurricane Florence. No problem. (But we ran an additional line off of a separate additional 20 amp generator circuit for our lights, fans, chargers, or other smaller electrical draw items.)
