That is definitely a question I could only "guestimate" on. It is a question that definitely requires you to go to www.nhs.co.uk and ask in the "search box", but BEST YET: GO TO YOUR PHONE AND DIAL NHS ASSISTANCE AND SPEAK TO A LIVE "TRAINED MEDICAL ASSISTANT/NURSE ETC."-IF HOWEVER YOU ARE "NOT SATISFIED" WITH THEIR RESPONSE (ie-if you feel that they did "NOT" answer you to a satisfactory response, DO NOT HESITATE TO DIAL 999***NHS HAS HAD A HABIT OF trying to get callers to wait until their GP is available to them, but even my friend in the health field called recently with an allergic reaction to a flu jab, and they TRIED to get her to wait until the a.m. and to get to her GP. She KNEW better with the NHS being over-worked (under-paid) and insisted on getting SOME kind of help THAT call (it was 1:45 a.m. when she called-the caller tried everything in her book of answers to get my friend to "GET to sleep and see her GP in almost 7 hours from that time!-Thank goodness she said "I'm sorry, that is NOT good enough, I am feeling worse and worse as each moment goes by (her tongue, cheeks and jaw was inflammed so badly and the pain was almost intolerable, and she told the woman from NHS who she was, where she works, and that she had just had the flu jab)-The woman FINIALLY relented and huffed and said "OK, OK I'LL HAVE A GP COME OUT TO YOU, BUT BE ADVISED IT COULD TAKE UP TO 6-8 HOURS BEFORE HE ARRIVES!" Well, my friend said "That's FINE, because I can hardly move from the pain- I CAN'T "GET MYSELF TO THE HOSPITAL," I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE IN MY CONDITION, AND I'VE GOT ALL YOUR INFORMATION FOR MY NOTES FOR THE GP, AND IN CASE I NEED TO CALL 999 IF IT GETS TO THAT POINT, because QUITE FRANKLY, I AM REALLY SURPRISED "............." (the woman's name) THAT YOU GAVE ME SUCH A HARD TIME NOW FOR 25 MINUTES TALKING TO ME, AND INSISTING THAT I GET TO A HOSPITAL ON MY OWN, I AM HAPPY TO WAIT FOR THE GP YOU ARE SENDING OUT, AND I HOPE I DON'T NEED THAT 999 EMERGENCY CALL, THEY WILL HAVE YOUR CONVERSATION ON RECORD AS WE SPEAK NOW, IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY.
The GP was there in 25 MINUTES.-A young Dr. and he doped her up with pain killers which put her to sleep and left her with the necessary paperwork from him to take to her GP in the morning/or asap as she could get there "technically THAT day at that point"-
CHEST PAINS AND SHORTNESS OF BREATH COULD BE A MILLION THINGS, SOME COULD BE NON-HARMING, MOST ARE SIGNS OF PROBLEMS AND SOME COULD BE SERIOUS. DON'T MESS AROUND WITH CHEST PAINS AND SHORTNESS OF BREATH, I SUGGEST YOU CALL NHS AND IF THEY ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO TRY TO BLOW YOU OFF, THEN CALL 999 YOURSELF, TELL THEM YOU HAVE CHEST PAINS AND HAVE SHORTNESS OF BREATH, AND STAY ON THE PHONE. AN AMBULANCE "WILL" BE DISPATCHED. THE PARAMEDICS WILL ASSESS YOU WHERE YOU ARE CALLING FROM, AND EITHER TAKE YOU IN TO THE A & E IF THEY FEEL IT IS NECESSARY THEN THAT IS BEST MOVE. IF THEY DON'T FEEL IT IS SERIOUS ENOUGH, THEY'LL TELL YOU AND ALSO WILL TELL YOU WHY.
GOOD LUCK, TAKE A FEW BREATHERS IN YOUR NOSE AND OUT YOUR MOUTH SLOWLY, AND GOD BLESS!
