Look at the 'shoulders' of the plastic fascia where the screen meets the base. Lift the screen up and trace the indentation/slot 'round the back, Insert the nail of one finger while you gently press the fascia inward (not downward) just above or below the slot. Don't use anything metal. The fascia will lift a little at thee points covering the hinges. Open the screen fully (flat) while keeping the gap there, then 'persuade' the panel to lift, while pushing downward a little where it meets another part of the fascia at the keyboard's edge. It is an art, so try not to damage the fascia. You will now see some small screws holding the keyboard in place. Bingo.
How to Upgrade, Repair, Disassemble an ACER Laptop or Notebook

yes you can install xp on any computer. you have to have a xp disk and put the disk into the cd drive then you restart the laptop and if it doesn't automatically start installing it you will have to set it to boot from the cd rom. you would have to restart it then hit whatever function key it says to hit to enter the bios or it might say enter set up. when you get into the bios it should say on top of the screen boot devices and you would go to that then click enter and it should bring up a menu that says change boot order and you would move the arrows to cd rom and do whatever it is you have to do to change the boot order. sometimes it makes you move the cd rom to the top of the list it should tell you how to move it. follow the instructions then ove it to the top then hit f10 or whatever it says to hit to save and exit then it will ask you if you want to save and exit and you hit yes then it will restart the computer and then you have to hit another f key to change the boot order it should say hit f2 or whatever key to enter boot menu. when in the boot menu put it on the cd rom then hit enter and it will restart and should start loading xp. it will start installing everything then when it gets to a part where it says do you want to install a new or fresh copy of windows you hit whatever key it says to hit then it should say which partition do you want to install it on and it should have a drive letter and it should say windows vista and how big the partition is and you click on that and it will overwrite vista. then follow the prompts and let it run until it's done.
