I have used Satellite with Internet Explorer for 5 years with no problems. In IE7 turn off your phishing filter to make the pages load faster.
My son uses Firefox on our home network fed by Satellite. His experience is that Firefox does load faster than IE7 and he likes the features of Firefox more.
Me, I prefer IE7. I do a lot of computer and networking setup and I find checking things out to be better with IE7.
I was doing some computer updates on my sons computer. I tried Firefox for this after reading your question.
I could not do the updates because Firefox did not support Active-X controls.
I had to use IE7 to do the Adobe Flash player updates because the use of the Active-X control is required to perform these updates.
Get both of them and use the one that works the best with your applications.
Get both.
Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) provides a large leap forward in terms of security and usability over previous versions, and it has better support for today's web standards than any previous version. That being said, it is still one of the least secure browsers on the market, and still falls far behind most modern web browsers when it comes to web standards.
Firefox 2.0 is one of the safest browsers out there, with a much higher level of web standards support than IE7. Using it (and promoting the use of it, if you want to) gives web standards a big leg up, which will help web developers (such as myself) modernize the web and bring the world better web applications. Furthermore, Firefox provides a better user experience. It's not perfect, but it's generally considered to be more user friendly than IE7.
If Firefox is so great, then why even bother with IE7? Because there are still a few websites out there that were built around Internet Explorer and not built around web standards. These sites sometimes won't work, or won't work very well with any other browser. Keep IE7 for use with those websites. They're both free, so you've got nothing to lose.
While you're out downloading and installing great free web browsers, give Opera a try! It generally does a good job of rendering web pages fast, and has a lot of credibility in the Internet technology field. For example, Nintendo chose Opera when deciding which browser to put on the Nintendo Wii because of it's reputation of speed and security. Download it for free at http://opera.com/ .
Firefox! I recently installed firefox after having internet explorer and it's so much faster. And I don't get as many viruses as I did with IE and there is basically no pop-ups.
Why is it safer:
1. It is not integrated with Windows, which helps prevent viruses and hackers from causing damage if they somehow manage to compromise Firefox.
2.There is no support for VBScript and ActiveX, two technologies which are the reasons for many IE security holes.
3.No spyware/adware software can automatically install in Firefox just by visiting a web site.
4. Firefox doesn't use Microsoft's Java VM, which has a history of more flaws than other Java VMs.
5. You have complete control over cookies.
Why firefox is better than Internet Explorer Video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dfseFm6y2rY
learn with internet Explorer, Firefox is greater useful to guard our from virus assaults in internet. yet some web content can't open in Firefox browser. They open purely in internet Explorer. If we open in Firefox browser some applications would possibly no longer artwork. yet finally Firefox is greater useful. i'm utilising the two between the browsers. Cheers, Babu.
Firefox
IE (all versions) uses Active X, Microsoft says it can be extremely insecure
"An ActiveX control can be an extremely insecure way to provide a feature...From the moment a user downloads an ActiveX control, the control may be vulnerable to attack"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=...
(By default Firefox doesn't have Active X at all)
The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team says the same:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone security model,...ActiveX (etc)...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"
http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/713878
Firefox is simply better, c/cnet did a pretty good job of comparing them:

Here are their security records side by side

IE supports webstandards horribly, take the test with both browsers so you can see the difference

In case you didn't notice in a link above, Opera is also a good browser

Firefox is much better than Internet Explorer. IE just keeps throwing you out. When it does work....it takes forever to go from one site to another!!!
Try Firefox, I'm sure you'll like it!!
Well in that case I advice you to get Opera it is the Fastest but it lacks some nice graphics and security. Get it from here http://www.opera.com/
personally fire fox but alot of people like internet explorer because it is easier to use.
