Answer:
Unemployment is a significant issue that affects not only individuals, but also the Church and society as a whole. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the unemployment rate in the Philippines was at 8.7% in October 2020. This means that there were 2.9 million unemployed individuals in the country. The highest unemployment rate was recorded among those aged 15-24 at 19.5%, followed by those aged 25-34 at 12.9%.
The Church and society have a moral obligation to address this issue as it affects the well-being and livelihood of many individuals and families. Unemployment can lead to poverty, financial insecurity, and a lack of access to basic needs such as food, housing, and healthcare. It can also lead to social and psychological problems, such as depression and feelings of hopelessness.
The Church can address this issue by providing support and assistance to unemployed individuals and families. This can include job training programs, financial assistance, and counseling services. The Church can also advocate for policies and programs that promote job creation and economic growth.
Society, on the other hand, can address this issue by creating an environment that is conducive to job creation and economic growth. This can include implementing policies that promote business development, investing in infrastructure and education, and addressing corruption and bureaucratic red tape.
In my analysis, the high unemployment rate in the Philippines is a clear indication that the government needs to take more decisive actions to create jobs and promote economic growth. The current administration's efforts in creating jobs and helping small businesses are commendable but it's not enough to fix the problem. The private sector also plays a vital role in creating jobs. The government should also focus on creating an environment that is conducive for small businesses and large businesses to grow.
My thoughts on this issue are that unemployment is a serious problem that requires a multi-faceted approach. It cannot be addressed solely by the Church or by the government, but rather requires the cooperation and collaboration of all sectors of society.
In my position, I believe that it is the moral and social responsibility of the Church and society to address this issue and to work towards creating a society in which all individuals have the opportunity to earn a living and provide for themselves and their families. And this can be done by creating jobs, promoting economic growth and addressing corruption and bureaucratic red tape.
