Is this a good speech for Vice president? (im in grade 8)The speech has to be at least 2 minutes btw, i dont know if this is too long or too short
Good afternoon fellow classmates and teachers. My name is ____________ and I am running to be your 2012/2013 Vice President
I Have been attending this school for a very long time and I feel I deserve to be Vice President.
As your Vice President, I can guarantee that our final year at _____________ will be the best year we have ever had. You can come and share with me your ideas at ease without feeling shy about it. Any idea to me is one small step to making this school a much better and fun place. I will do everything I can to accomplish your goals. Your voice will be heard.
Together with the student council and most importantly, you, we will improve our school year with plenty of fun activities that you will remember. A more enjoyable Halloween dance, A more Merry Christmas, Much better concerts, and more energetic presentations. I will get your ideas to become reality.
I consider myself to be a smart and athletic person that can and will help make this school year much better. I have been on numerous school teams ranging from cross country to volleyball. I maintain my good grades every year and continue to do so. I will not be afraid to voice what I believe in. I will not be afraid to speak of your ideas and opinions in meetings. Your issues are as important to me as they are to you. Problems will be dealt with. You will be heard. And I will fight for you.
Many may think that being a part of student council means that it is all about us and that we make the decisions in this school. That is not true. I mean yeah we do make very important decisions but it is about you. We make the decisions that you have come up with. I am doing this not to try and have power, but to make this school a place where we can be proud of. A place where we can remember as an educational, fun school. If I am chosen to be Vice president, years from now when we’re older, we’ll be saying “Thank God I went to [school]”
We may have a small school, but a small school with big ideas and the potential to be a great school. Thank you for listening and I apologize for making you all miss out on an educational lesson we could be learning right now. I’m sure you are all sad you had to miss that. Remember, _________ for Vice President!

You should try to make your speech a lot funnier. High schoolers vote for someone who makes them laugh, not someone with serious ideas, unfortunately. There are also a few places where you sound sort of conceited: "I am athletic, I am smart, I have been on teams" etc.
You should start off with something funny, then something serious, then a bunch more funny, then close on a serious note, then leave them laughing with your last line. They will listen better and be more likely to vote for you.
You should also not make promises you can't keep. Student councils don't really have control over much, so find out exactly what it is possible for a student council to accomplish, then don't promise anything more. Kids will know if you are making empty promises, everyone knows the adults have all the control.
WI agree with the other reply-es about now not writing out the speech however notes on small flash cards are very priceless We call them headliners. They'll take you by way of the points you need to make.I would prevent announcing that the student Council does no longer do something. That is a poor even if proper. You might ultimately say anything like' i know the pupil Council is fired as much as get extra things going for the scholars and that i promise to do my exceptional to not disappoint them...'
This seems like a very well-written, thought out speech! It is obvious you thought a lot about what you could do as the Vice President of your student council and you did a great job getting your points across.
If you haven't delivered many public speeches, I would also recommend that you practice reading your speech several times before it is time to give it. Read it in front of the mirror, in front of your family and friends or even in front of a pet to get comfortable with the words and how you want to convey them.
When you do give your speech, it is good to make eye contact with your audience, and try not to stare at your paper or note cards the whole time. Even if you're nervous, if you look up and stand tall, you will look (and act!) more confident.
Good luck, you'll be great!
Yeah
Honestly, it's good but kind of boring. Add some humor into it and it'll be awesome
