Performance task #1: Scientific Method: Use the given scenario and your knowledge of the
scientific method to answer the following questions.
It's summertime, and you need to get to beach for family reunion. Unfortunately, when you
get into your car and try to start it, you find it for some reason, it won't start. For the
following questions, use your imagination to describe the line of reasoning you'd use to solve
your problem and get to the beach.
1. What is your purpose?
2. What hypothesis do you have for getting out of the situation? Remember, your hypothesis should be written in the format “If_, then_"
3. What materials will you need to test your hypothesis?
4. What will your procedure be for testing your hypothesis?
5. What result will likely happen as a result of your experiment? (Use your imagination
to answer this question).
6. What is your conclusion? (Remember, this should be restatement of your hypothesis
