I'm a little bit worried about my cat. She is two years old and I adopted her about 3 months ago. She's always been happy and healthy. Lately, she hasn't been eating as much as she used to. This could be due to the fact that I started buying new cat food, but I switched back to her old food, and she is still just picking at it. She *IS* eating, just not as enthusiastically as she was. I play with her every day for a half hour to an hour. She is alone for about 9 hours a day while I'm at work, but she is free to roam the apartment and look out windows. She is an indoor cat and we live alone. She doesn't seem to want to be around me as much, and she seems bored with her favorite toy (she has many, but this is the one she likes the best). I am worried that she might be bored or lonely living with me. I just want her to be happy. Does anyone have any advice or insight?

My cat doesn't seem herself?

If it's any comfort, my 3 year old cat acts weird every year when autumn turns to winter. I always thought it had something to de with barometric pressure.
Three possibilities:
- She's depressed
- She's ill
- She's preganent.
You may not believe it, but: cats can be depressed too! If you really love her, which I'm 100% certain you do, you won't let her suffer. Bring her to a vet and do whatever he/she thinks is best for you and your cat (If this involves drugs, moving house et cetera- do it! But don't EVER say goodbye to your cat. It'll make her feel worse). If you see an improvement: good! If not, keep up your hopes!
But -please- never, EVER say: 'I'll let her go. I can't bear to see her suffer.' because it would be the worst mistake you've ever made. Don't do this unless she is life-threatenly ill and there's no other way.
Or... she could be preganent! Yay! Most cats do not deal with pregnancy in this particular way, but I've heard of some cases in which they have. If she is preganent: congrats! You will have kittens AND your feline friend back to normal. Oh, yes and please note: Cats can still get preganent, even if they're been de-sexed. Sometimes something happens...
She may be sick. Watch for: Continued lack of proper appetite; diahhrea; excessive thirst, or not drinking water; lack of normal activity; listlessness; or vomitting. A cat doesn't need to exhibit all of these symptoms, but might only have a couple of them. If the cat doesn't act normally, then you should take her to the vet. They can tell you if she is O.K., or not. Might she have a fur-ball? If she does not get back to herself within a couple of days, take her in.
Shes needs to get used to her new environment. You are still kinda new to her. Try playing with her more if possible, it might take her mind off when she was before hand. Maybe another cat for a companion will do the trick??
get another cat for her to have a friend.
keep a close eye that she is eating and drinking. also you shouldn't switch the food back and forth like that. and if you must make sure you do it slowly mixing in more and more of the new food each day.
the cat eats just one type of food day in and day out if you just suddenly switch it it could make your cat very ill.
Don't switch foods around abruptly, because it causes painful stomach aches to your cat. If you change her diet do it gradually. Female kitties are different from male kitties and they let you know, when they are upset. She also like a routine and don't move stuff around, because cats hate any chances, because they are very territorial. They hate it if you move a chair to another corner.
Owner of 5 kitties.
Give her lots of loving and she'll feel better soon, once adjusted to her new diet.
off to the vet. behavior changes usually mean health changes absent a change in environment.
It could be that she is restless and not getting enough exercise. Play with her more and see if that helps. If not I would go to the vet.
have a walk with her..uuuhmm a cat walk
sometime peopll are better off with dogs
