There are a few possibilities here:
The 1st is that you may have a bad HDMI cable. You can troubleshoot this problem by plugging you HDMI cable into another device ( Cable Box or DVD Player ) If you get a picture then its not the cable.
The second is that the Input on your TV is not functional and you need to have it repaired. Troubleshoot by doing the same as aforementioned.
Thirdly and mostly likely, you are using too long of an HDMI cable. HDMI is normally able to travel 30 - 50ft without signal loss, depending on the signal strength. The PS3 has a very weak signal which only allows the signal to travel around 10-12ft.
If the issue is the length of the HDMI cable then I suggest purchasing an HDMI REPEATER ( around $20 online ) and a short HDMI cable ( 1ft ). Plug the 1ft HDMI cable into you PS3 then into the REPEATER ( Be aware that the repeater is directional ) and then plug the longer HDMI cable from the Repeater to your TV.
Check to see if your settings on the PS3 are changed to HDMI as your output. If not then change it. Then check to make sure you are on the right input component of the TV. For example if your on component 1 for the RCA cables, you have to switch TV to HDMI input.
Apparently I have read that some TV's have issues with the PS3. Not sure if this is true or not.
How many times is multiple times? I would just keep trying. Nobody said HDMI was perfect. The fact that it requires encryption keys & such before it displays video means that you may get hiccups like this from time to time.
You have to go into the setting in the ps3, it has hdmi setting, put it on then restart, and sometimes when you turn it off from the back it will go back te reg settings. I had this same prob
First, check to see if the cord is plugged in correctly and securely. Second, If that doesn't work, then you might need new cables.
Do you have the original setup disc? If so you put that in and it will automatically detect your settings so you can view the display. Once you are in you should be able to do what you need to do to adjust your settings.
Sounds to me like your ps3 is bad. This happened to me before too. I would just sell it (Like I did with mine).
