Let us know first What is natural selection?
The theory might be valid if natural selection was working on life span. However, natural selection does not directly select for long life. Instead, it looks for characteristics that make animals have more offspring. If a trait raises the number of descendants an individual produces, the trait occurs in larger numbers in the next generation. Since those children still have the gene, they will have more offspring and transfer the trait down to a greater number of people than the average. This pattern persists until a phenotype extends through a population for several generations.
