the most commonly used is the r4 but i can tell you from years of experience that it is obsolete to every other flashcart around(besides ds-extreme) as of april2008.
the best flashcart on the market currently is the cyclods because it has the most features out of any flashcart around, including slowmotion, real time save/load, in game guide, battery saving mode. but it is on the expensive side at about $50USD at http://www.realhotstuff.com/-c-61_90.html
the second best flashcart around is considered to be the acekard 2, due to it's cheapness and support from third party developers (AKAIO firmware) it is only about $12USD from http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.acekar... and can be used with the ezflash 3in1 from http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1894 or http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2967
this will allow for GBA games to be played, rumble features, and has a RAM expansion for browsing the net
A Flash card and MicroSD.
My recommended budget combination:
DSTT Flash card for $6.89
http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10289
4GB MicroSD for $8.60
http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11241
The difference between an R4 and DSTT is that the DSTT supports SDHC (microSD's larger than 2GB) whereas the R4 does not.
If you want the very best combination, get the M3 Real Perfect for $52 along with a 8GB (found for $50 on ebay) or 16GB microSD (for $70 on ebay).

The M3 Real Perfect has the 32MB Expansion RAM which is required for the Opera Internet Browser, GBA roms, and certain applications that are resource-demanding such as emulators and operating systems (see: DSLinux), can have the M3 Sakura graphics interface installed, and of course supports SDHC like the DSTT.
The R4 has shoddy homebrew support and the DSTT and M3 (regular firmware) cannot list files/games alphabetically but rather lists whatever order they were imported in. The M3 has a firmware called the M3 Sakura which has the best graphics interface available (very fluid, automatically lists alphabetically, and supports the "Hidden Files" feature), however it currently has very poor homebrew support, so a dual-boot loader that boots the Sakura firmware first and can boot into the regular firmware for homebrew is the best solution. The M3 iSakuReal firmware can do that.
we have 2 of these so what yu need is an R4 DS card i think they come with a memory card too erm they cost anywhere from around £20 to £40
a super type of video games have unmarried cart multiplayer so which you and your friends can play with basically one cartridge. verify the back of your DS case to work out what video games have this skill. The participant with the cart needs to circulate into the game and start up a multiplayer game. Then the participant(s) with out cart circulate to the DS acquire play button. while the 1st participant sees all and sundry in his game, he hits the initiating button to start transmitting the game to all and sundry. Alternately, there are DS acquire stations at many outlets that sell DS hardware and video games (Toys R Us, Gamestop, and so on). you ought to use the DS acquire play button to acquire a short demo of different video games. i think of suitable now they have Elite Beat brokers. The demo basically sticks around till you turn your DS off.
Suppose the most commonly used one nowadays is the R4
