1. distance covered: 16
displacement: 0.38
yan lang po alam ko
Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered" during its motion. Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is"; it is the object's overall change in position
The distance travelled is the path taken by a body to get from an initial point to an end point in a given period of time, at a certain velocity. If the velocity is constant: Distance = time * velocity. d = v*t.
As we know that the distance travelled by the body is given as 2 + 3n. Now as we know that according to the first law of motion. Speed at the end of t seconds is calculated as v = u + at, where u is the initial velocity and a is the acceleration. Hence, the velocity at the end of two seconds will be 9.5 m/sec.
What is the speed of the physics teacher after 25 seconds? How about
his velocity?
Note:
Assuming that the teacher covered a distance of 100 meters in 25 seconds.
Given:
t ( time ) = 25 s
d ( distance ) = 100 m
s ( speed ) = ? unknown
Solution:
We can solve the problem using the formula s = d / t
s = d / t
= 100 m / 25 s
= 4 m/s ( Answer )
Differences between Distance and Displacement
Distance Displacement
Length of path travelled Short distance from point a to point b
Scalar quantity ( do direction ) vector quantity have direction
Never be zero with motion can be zero if returns back to its place
Similarities
Both uses the same units.
Both measure length.
Distance is different in displacement. Let say "If you are going to travel by taxi cab, you are charge based on distance or displacement"
If your are travelling by taxi, the charge is based on distance not displacement. Distance is the amount of length you travelled starting from starting point until you reach your destination. While displacement is only the distance from the starting point to the destination in a straight line measurement and it does not measure the total amount of you travelled from starting point to the destination.
