Volcanic eruption
Before:
• Have your emergency kit ready for evacuation
• Review the cities in the curation routes
• Gas up your car and charge all devices
• Stay tuned to the local media and NOAA/USGS alerts
• Cover windows and door openings inside the house
• Stay indoors
During
• Evacuate or shelter in place
• Do not drive if there's too much ashfall
• Stay away from exclusion zones (rives, downwind)
• Use an n95 respirator mask and goggles, if needed
• Do not run the AC or heater the home
After
• Stay indoors until local officials say it safe to leave
• Assess the damage done to your home (take photos!)
• Remove ashes from your roof (carefully!)

KNOW THE HAZARDS
• Always identify the safe areas and emergency exits in your home, school or workplace.
PREPARE & STORE
• Assemble an emergency supply kit and make accessible at all times.
HAVE A PLAN
• Regularly practice the evaluation procedure.

DURING

• Protect your head and neck

MOVE TO AN OPEN AREA
• Stay away from buildings and move to an open area without power lines or anything that might fall.
AFTER
ASSESS YOUR SITUATION
• Check family, co-workers and assess
health and injury. Provide first aid for anyone who needs it.
ESTABLISH COMMUNICATION
• Coordinate with family, friends and community according to your communication plan. If possible text instead of calling.
