Hi, we're off to see Carter USM on Friday at Brixton Academy, But because of time the only way we're gonna make it, is if we drive. Does anyone know if there is anywhere we can park that is fairly close to the Academy?.......or maybe a stop or 2 on the tube..........thanks in advance. Fil ;)

Parking @ Brixton Academy?
Verified answer
Looking at a map of the Brixton area / website such as googlemaps:
There are reasonable streets for parking between Clapham Road and Brixton Road (places like Stockwell Park Road, Caldwell Street) and off Stockwell Road (like Stansfield Road, Chantrey Road) or if you are coming from the South the roads just off Brixton Hill (eg Sudbourne Road, Hayter Road) - they are all resident only parking but this restriction stops at 5:30 so you should be fine.

Hi - I'm glad you give a reason for driving! Although on a Friday in London are you sure this WILL be quickest?
there is a multi-storey car park nearby (Popes Road - kinda opposite/continuation of Stockwell Road) but bear in mind it SHUTS at 11:30 so you may be returning via tube/underground if concert runs late.
Otherwise, there are lots of wide leafy roads around so you may be able to park off-road, but you may need to know a local with a permit!
Remember, there's overground to Brixton too in case a line is near you/that helps.
Enjoy Carter USM.
Brixton Academy recommends that all customers use public transport. There is restricted parking around the Brixton Academy - however, there is a multi-storey car park on Popes Road - Cost is 0.80 per hour and it is open until 11.30pm.
Well I used to live in Herne Hill, which is not too far away from the Academy, you could take a bus or even walk from there. I used to park my car in the street and never had it vandalised. Brixton Academy is not in Central London, there are plenty of residential streets and you would find a parking place.
I've always managed to park within reasonable walking distance of the Academy. But it might not save you as much time as you think - at some times it's quicker to use public transport than it is to sit in slow-moving London traffic, and then go round and round the streets looking for a parking spot...
There are loads of side streets you can park in but it's a bit hairy walking around there in the dark.
