pamahalaang Marcos. Sa kasamaang palad, nalaman ni Marcos ang balak na ito, at agad na pinag-utos niya ang pagdakip sa mga pinuno nito. Dahil nahaharap siya sa napipintong pagdakip sa kaniya, humingi ng tulong si Enrile sa AFP Vice- Chief of Staff na si Lt Gen Fidel Ramos. Pumayag si Ramos na magbitiw sa kaniyang puwesto at sinuportahan ang mga rebeldeng sundalo. Kinausap din ni Enrile ang Arsobispo Katoliko ng Maynila na si Jaime Cardinal Sin para sa suporta.
