Problem with ePrompter and Yahoo?
For 2 months now my Yahoo email will not work with ePrompter. It's worked well with it for years. What could be the problem? I already rechecked the settings and password.

Q. I am able to retrieve my Yahoo messages on ePrompter for a while and then I get one of those asterisks and ePrompter stops working with my Yahoo account. It continues to work with all my other email types like Hotmail - just not Yahoo. Why is this happening?
A. We did a survey among Yahoo/ePrompter users and determined that a small percentage of our users were having the same problem as you with their Yahoo accounts, and that in most cases the problem with Yahoo seemed to be related to the frequency of ePrompter updates - specifically it appeared that if your frequency of updates was set for more than every 5 minutes (e.g., every minute, every 2 minutes, etc.), this would eventually cause a temporary IP ban with Yahoo which in turn would shut down ePrompter's ability to work with Yahoo. This issue is confirmed by the following link regarding "error 999":
http://www.murraymoffatt.com/software-problem-0011...
Which says in part:
"This error appears to be caused by some sort of bandwidth limiting system that Yahoo has put in place on their servers. Once you have exceeded your allotted bandwidth for a specific period of time Yahoo gives you this Error 999 message and doesn't allow you to access the service."
This frequency issue may be further complicated for people in a number of ways, i.e. if a user is tracking the same Yahoo account on more than one ePrompter; if a user is tracking more than one Yahoo account on the same ePrompter; etc. In both of these cases the user may actually have to set the update frequency to 15 minutes or more to avoid the temporary IP ban by yahoo.
As of late, for the ePrompter email notification program to work, we recommend that you stop using your Yahoo accounts with ePrompter for at least 24 hours or until Yahoo has lifted that temporary IP ban. When you start using those Yahoo accounts again, we would suggest that you set your ePrompter update intervals for at least 15 minutes, just to be safe.
However, recently we noticed another new phenomenon that has started to occur with Yahoo accounts (which may or may not have anything to do with ePrompter). When our Yahoo test account failed for no apparent reason - the interval was set for 15 minutes - we went to the actual Yahoo web page for the test account and tried to retrieve / send messages. However, when we tried to do either, Yahoo asked us to retype that "magic word" (confirmation code) they showed in a box, which we did, and after that we were able to retrieve and send Yahoo messages using ePrompter.
Unfortunately, this same problem occurred again about 10 days later, which once again required us to go back to Yahoo; attempt to retrieve / send messages, at which point the page with the "magic word" appeared again and we retyped it in the box and everything was up and running again.
In any event, we are looking into further remedies for this problem with Yahoo - sorry for the hassle.
And finally, if that's not the problem, are you using any software that may be causing a conflict with ePrompter or needs to be adjusted to accept ePrompter, such as a firewall, a proxy server, anti-spyware or anti-spam software?
Also, you might want to check to see if your password is comprised of non-alphanumerical symbols? If so, this will not work with ePrompter.
If none of the above helps, then you should try going to the ePrompter forum which is populated by some of the more avid ePrompter users and extremely knowledgeable computer mavens - I know they already have a thread about the Yahoo problem you are experiencing. It can be found at:

Hopefully someone there can help you.
once you're on the group, is the message tab there on the left? Do you notice anybody's messages? it must be that archive has been closed by utilising the owner, and people who're replying are doing it by utilising their digital mail, being on guy or woman or digest settings.
