This means, to me, that while designing how things will be done, especially how a product will be exhibited to potential customers and how the user will use the product, it is critical to see the experience through the customer's eyes. This entails attempting to "forget" all of the subtleties of the product that I am familiar with, but a consumer who is unfamiliar with it will not. I've purchased a number of things that presume a higher level of background experience on my side than I actually have. This is frequently the situation when I try to acquire technical support and advise.
