Yes. There are cases when students bring vapes, cigarettes, (and worst) drugs to their school and secretly use it. Children in poor areas that are featured in numerous documentaries are often smoking, drinking alcohol, and gambling all for different reasons. I've seen a documentary where a supposedly innocent child blows a condom and uses it as a balloon, which only proves how uneducated they are because of poverty. There are various factors that discourages these 'hopes of the future' to study, but poverty is the most dominant of them all. Most children in poor environment don't go to school or at some point, stopped going to school, so they get bored and eventually try to explore things that are not appropriate for them, especially during this pandemic.
Yet, we shouldn't be stereotypical. Despite how influential the type of environment is for these children, there are still some who uses the not-so-pleasant place they are in as inspiration for them to go further in life by studying and soon be what Jose Rizal wants, to be the 'hope of the future'.
