Answer:
Poem: Mother to Son
Answer:
The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes is about a mother teaching his own son that life isn’t crystal stairs; it isn’t easy and definitely full of difficulties. As the poem goes on, the mother shares her struggles and the way she handled it even though she didn’t have anyone to guide her. So, in return she wants her son to know that even though there may be struggles he shouldn’t stop climbing up and standing up.
The poem includes the mother’s:
Love
guidance
message for her son
To what does the speaker compare her life?
The speaker or the persona is the mother and she compares her life with her son’s future. Her son maybe young but it isn’t included in the poem. Her life was full of broken glasses and broken stairs and she wants her son to know that by moving forward he will have better days like her.
