To further explain the subject, this is literature and studies concerning Filipino culture, the self, and identity.
A person's self-concept is made up of personal beliefs. Every culture has a unique conception of who they are, thus I am now sharing the Filipino culture's view of who they are. The Filipino notion of self, according to Church 1987 and Lynch 1973, exhibits a collectivistic viewpoint because we place more emphasis on character attributes that foster interpersonal cooperation, reciprocity, and social acceptance than on individualistic values like autonomy and individuality. Filipinos also treated people with respect and on an equal footing.
Additionally, based on what I've seen, Filipinos prioritize their families since they are aware of their responsibilities in life. The environment in which Filipinos grow up shapes their sense of self, including how their family members interact with one another and function as a social unit. These factors might influence their sense of self, socialization, and cultural identity. Filipinos' self-concept was shaped by their families and personal behaviors.
