Answer:
Echinoderms are marine invertebrate of the phylum Echinodermata, such as a starfish, sea urchin, or sea cucumber.
What are the harmful effects of echinoderms?
• Sea urchins which are echinoderms are known to be venomous animals of the sea. Therefore, these are somehow made them harmful, but the venom that they have is actually natural. The gonads (reproductive glands) of several species of sea urchins may be poisonous during the reproductive period. This is to protect themselves from prey during their reproduction period.
• Sea cucumber as their name implies, are sausage like form. The surface of their body is generally covered with wart-like bumps. Some species have so-called cuvieran tubules in their visceral cavity. These fine and sticky tubules may contain toxins. The toxins are expelled in order to deter natural enemies. In short, this is their body's defense mechanism. These toxins are called holothurin, and these are harmful to its prey.
