12 Realizations During the Pandemic
Since the pandemic hit a year and a half ago, I have come to the following realizations:
1. Life is unpredictable. One moment everything is going well, but shortly after everything may be in turmoil.
2. Life is too short to worry about the small stuff. I should focus my energy on the big rocks in my life like spending time with my family and loved ones.
3. I should pursue my passion and dreams in life and not let others’ opinions affect me (this one is still a work in progress).
4. I always have a choice. I should take responsibility for what happens in my life.
During the peak of the pandemic, I was off work for a few months. This was one of the low periods in my life, as I needed to support myself financially, yet I couldn't work. It was a very stressful and challenging time. But then again, but everything happens for a reason. If I hadn't experienced this, I wouldn't have thought of changing my career.
As Marilyn Monroe once said, “Things fall apart so that better things can fall together."
Setbacks can be a blessing or a curse. It's up to you to decide how you look at it.
5. Don’t measure success through acquiring, keeping, or maintaining tangible items. Material possessions bring us momentary joy rather than lasting bliss.
6. Social media detox is good for my mental and emotional health. It prevents me from seeking external validation.
7. I should be selective of whom I associate with. To quote John Rohn, "You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with."
8. I need to take action and believe that I can—to always think BIG for the things that I want to happen in my life.
9. I should focus on the things that I can control and let go of the things that are outside of my circle of influence. I can only be responsible for my actions and not for others.
10. I shouldn't let my emotions control my judgment. If I make decisions when I’m at the peak of my emotions, the results may detract from my overall ambitions.
11. Collect memories and always take pictures. It's always nice to have something to remind me of that special moment.
12. You’ll recognize your true friends when you’re at your lowest. When the tough gets going, your true friends will stick by your side.
