Perfume is a strongly scented substance that comprises a large percentage of alcohol on its content. Alcohol is considered to be higly volatile. Volatility refers on how substances tends to evaporate easily.
If someone sprays a perfume on a secluded room, then expect the tiny molecules of the perfume will disperse and the aroma will fill the room. Since the scent of the perfume is in the form of gas, it tends to moves freely on the space, this phenomenon is called diffusion.
Diffusion is a process when molecules scattered or dispersed at a random direction from a region of higher concentration towards to a region with lower concentration. On the case of the sprayed perfume, the perfume molecules tends to move at high speed and collide within the air molecules. Diffusion is the reason why we able to smell something even if we are too far away from the object. But since perfume is mainly made up of alcohol the molecules can easily evaporates on the mid air and the aroma will not last for too long.
To better understand how diffusion occurs, I attached a photo that illustrates the diffusion. Note that the blue particles are the air molecules while green particles are the perfume molecules.
P.s. Huhu I sincerely apologize if medj matagal. I hope it still helps.
